Take Me Home Part 2

She was not expecting his assessing of her behaviour and what she did. So the next morning, without a warning, she made him coffee then she said, “The fact that you don’t want to be with me does not inspire me to want to love you or take you home. You keep carrying on and saying that I am what I am but you love me anyway. Your kind of love just puts me down. I don’t feel like I really want to be around so I made up my mind, that’s it, I’m gone. I’m gonna find someone who loves me, will take me home.”

I was sitting and you were there. Next thing I knew I was going somewhere, thrown on a ship and I didn’t know what to do. I got off when we hit the shore. Where I was, well I wasn’t sure but I’m doing everything just to get back home to you where we can see the tide tonight, the crest upon the waves, and we could see what once was ours and wish they’d all go away.
Land of America, back in time, took my land and left me crying now I’m doing everything just to get back home to you. I will search and I’ll roam for the faces I know, where the sea and the dirt made my bones. All the feelings I hold, I can never let go of the sweet memories of my home.

14 Days

Supposedly, it was Lou Reed’s “Ride into the Sun” that rang out from the speakers of the car that would be the cause of a drive out of the town in fourteen days. Fourteen days and as unexpected as a winter rain in Whitehorse. After that, the sum of the scene added to nothing but future histories and what was to be expected upon sight of fifteen days later. Wouldn’t it be nice if just you and I could just get away and maybe mean what we say again? Out of the rain and drifting into the plains, setting sail on the breeze, we will do what we please again.

They were walking in the evening through the meadow by the bog, conversation and debating when he told her of his thoughts. He said, “If I keep picking you off the floor, I’m gonna finally just ignore you and walk on out the door. You keep talking about your friends like they’re the only ones who need or gonna let you in. You keep saying the same old things, you wanna be with me more than anything, but it seems I might as well just go and try to find someone to love me and take me home.”
